(London - UNITED KINGDOM ) realisation of the performance "A lament for medea" Based in London since 2001, and in Rio de Janeiro since 2004, ZECORA URA THEATRE is constantly re-defining its approach to cross-artform innovation and multi-cultural dialogue with its renowned collaborators as well as members of the local community. Its work provokes active encounters which are set out to de-construct rigid views of theatre-making and re-invent theatre practice as a challenging and inclusive bridge between personal identity and current politics of technology and communication. The Company builds on its international recognition by working on long-term relationships with local communities, artists and partners worldwide. This has included working with schools, community groups and festivals leading Brazilian Capoeira and Japanese Butoh workshops to children and young people, as well as mentoring young emerging artists. ZECORA URA Theatre's last project The Tempest was performed to over 6,000 audience members in the UK and abroad between 2006 and 2007. For the past 7 years, ZECORA URA Theatre has been committed to an inter-cultural cross-disciplinary approach to theatre; provoking meetings of culture, gender and age in performance where artists can truly own their work by finding their voice within a collaborative environment.
