Dance Performance - MOTUS (ITALIA)

Iris is flying under the sea and her long black hair flows like weightless seaweed moved by the waves. Iris finds herself suspended as in a Chagall painting, between anemones and fish.
The fate of those women who never reached the other shore, lost in the deep blue just before the arrival, passes by her .
Mermaids are not singing, there is only silence. There is only a tenacious and obstinate silence of many women taking care of other people's families, abandoning their own.

Iris gained her strongly desired citizenship after her death.
Iris Noelia Palacios Cruz was from Honduras. She arrived in Italy without documents. She found a job like many other migrant women, with an Italian family.

She died in the Argentario sea after having saved the life of a little child she was babysitting.
This performance by MOTUS Company is a tribute to Iris. It denounces our society's negation of the dedicated care that millions of migrant women are giving to our country, often illegally. This work is dedicated to all those women who, like Iris, are silently generous, respectful, invisibile and at the same time figures representing social and economic injustice.
