Who is LIBERO CIRCUITO (Free Circuit)?

libero_circuitoLIBERO CIRCUITO. Independent Theatres Network www.liberocircuito.it is a territorial network composed of small theatres located in Grosseto, Siena, Firenze and the Province of Pisa and by theatre companies from the Regions of Tuscany, Lombardy, Liguria and Lazio that work professionally in live performance (theatre, physical theatre, dance, musical ensembles etc.) and which are not yet inserted in official circuits.

The network began in 2003 (initially named as Corto Circuito - Short Circuit) to favour the mobility of professional theatre companies, through the opening of theatre spaces with accessible conditions.

The performance, created by Serena Gatti , with the patronage of Pisa Province and of CentroNordSud in 2006, starts from a journey in Palestine and develops throughout an intense research of litterature, testimonies, contacts with volunteers, humanitarian associations and from artistic and human experiences.
The mise-en-scéne narrates with extreme semplicity some life experiences. It searches for a difficult balance between the brutality, the harshness and the delicacy of the issue. It evokes the conditions of a reality wich is extra-ordinary from our perspective; it creates and emotional memory that is far from the political debates and focusses where media do not reach.

I wanted to speak about prostitution. I wanted to create a performance about prostitution. But how can I deal with this type of theme? It is difficult, dangerous and extremely delicate. It is a difficult issue because it is very complicated, with many facets, that trouble you....
It is too difficult or too easy to judge.
Judgement brings the risk of being banal, of feeling superior, of feeling legitimate to speak with the pretence of understanding and explaining everything. Judgement brings the risk of forgetting the real protagonists of the story.

The performance is divided in three parts.
It begins with Dabka, traditional Arabic dance performed by Farah Saleh.
The second piece is a video projection where the Palstinian dancer speaks about the relationship between her migration experience and her art. The third part consists of a theatre-dance piece, about the Irael-Palestinian conflict, performed by Gruppo Once: "Allegorie: balad-terra.
